ENG- Panel discussion: Sufficiency as a message: from public campaigning to civil disobedience
Title: "Sufficiency as a message: from public campaigning to civil disobedience"
In the run-up to the elections, from 5th of June to 8th of June, Scientist Rebellion (SR) and Growth Kills (GK) are organizing a series of (non-violent civil disobedience) actions.
In the context of this series of actions, SR and GK have invited More Than Enough to join them in an informal panel discussion around different ways and strategies of bringing degrowth, post-growth and sufficiency to a wider audience.
We’d like to extend this invitation to you as signatories and/or active partners of More Than Enough. The idea would be to build synergies along the wide spectrum of forms of ‘action’, from civil disobedience to public campaigning. We think it would be great if organisations of different types, kinds and styles could meet, get to know each other and each other’s visions better, and together discuss our current predicament and questions.
The panel discussion that we are invited to join falls within an evening organized on the 7th of June @ Het Goudblommeke in Papier/La Fleur en Papier Doré in Brussels, which looks as follows:
- 18.00: Welcome (there will be some focaccia provided to snack on)
- 18.30: SR and GK speak about the ongoing actions they’re organizing
- 19.00-20.00: Panel discussion with SR, GK, More Than Enough and hopefully someone from your organisations, on different strategies of reaching out to the public and bringing degrowth to the forefront
- 20.00-21.30: Workshop: bringing these messages to a wider public
- 21.30: Live music
- 22.30: actions..?
Anyone is welcome to participate in those discussions and in these actions, but there is of course no expectation for you to stay on. Dinner is not provided but there will probably be a collective pizza order from a pizzeria close by to the Goudblommeke in Papier/La Fleur en Papier Doré. There will also be some live music to enjoy :)
More Than Enough will not be participating in those actions in the name of the campaign as such.
Soumaya Majdoub — Vrije Universiteit Brussel

Delivering the manifesto to the political parties
The More Than Enough campaign delivers their manifesto to the headquarters of the Belgian political parties.
Dear President of Party X,
On behalf of all the signatory organisations of the More than Enough campaign, we are pleased to send you our attached manifesto.
This appeal is addressed to the Belgian political parties. We urge you to consider the eight main points we propose for building the foundations of a society based on well-being, social justice and respect for the limits of our planet.
The current period of acute crisis is systemic. It will not go away on its own, quite the contrary. If we are to have any hope of recreating and preserving the conditions for a happy life for everyone in our country and throughout the world, we must dare to question many of the principles that have guided us up to now.
The path we propose is uncertain and without guarantees. What is certain, however, is that the current path leads us away from the opportunity to achieve a good life. The choice seems obvious.
Will your party be the first one with the courage to take the first step?
Yours sincerely,
Chloé Mikolajczak and Gert-Jan Vanaken,
Spokespeople for the More than Enough campaign
